Project Detail

We help SFC film and compile all flying footages. All footages are then colour-graded and edited into a short video to be shown as an opening to the 2014 Sydney Flight College Wings Presentation Night, where graduating student pilots were awarded with a “wing” for their uniform.

Challenge

Since 2001, government and organisations worldwide had bumped up securities especially in the aviation industry. While privacy law is majorly at play in Australia, we have considered the challenges and implications of the challenges towards our filming thoroughly, while working on this project within a fixed 5 months time frame. The factors are as follows:

  • Student's privacy concerns regarding flight recordings during their training.
  • Security restriction within the aerodrome and tarmac that prevents unauthorised access to restricted areas.
  • Camera mounting challenges due to regulations on aircraft modification.
  • Privacy concerns of other stakeholders within the vicinity of the aerodrome due to filming.

Solution

With the support from SFC, we were able to obtain permission from the airport authority to conduct our filming at a few designated zones. Access to restricted areas were also granted with the conditions that an airport authority personnel has to be supervising throughout the duration of our filming. We issued privacy MOUs to stakeholders of the airport and students to ensure consent were obtained prior to filming the project.

The filming concluded successfully within a month and post production took a week to finalise. Overall, the project was a successful maiden assignment R-Rec Studio had received.
